Israel Launches Largest-Ever Airstrike on Iran: 200 Fighter Jets Hit 500 Targets Across 24 Provinces

Jerusalem/Tehran – In what is being described as the largest air operation in its history, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that approximately 200 fighter jets carried out coordinated strikes across Iran on Saturday afternoon, targeting nearly 500 military locations.
According to Israeli military officials, the air campaign focused on Iranian air defense systems, missile launchers, and strategic military infrastructure. The operation marks a dramatic escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran.
Missile Launchers and Air Defenses Targeted
Israeli authorities claim the strikes severely damaged multiple Iranian military facilities. Among the primary targets were advanced missile systems believed to pose threats to Israeli territory and regional allies.
Unverified reports circulating in Israeli media suggested that Iran’s Defense Minister, Amir Nasirzadeh, may have been killed in the strikes. However, Iranian officials have not confirmed these claims.
Netanyahu: “Operation Will Continue”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the military operation against Iran is ongoing and described it as “a war for peace.” He indicated that Israel would continue targeting strategic threats.
There were also unconfirmed suggestions that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, could have been affected, though no official confirmation has been provided.
Casualties Reported Across Iran
Iranian state television reported that more than 200 civilians were killed in the joint U.S.–Israel strikes, with at least 201 fatalities and 747 people injured. Emergency response teams have been deployed nationwide.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society stated that 24 out of Iran’s 31 provinces were impacted by the airstrikes. More than 220 rescue teams have been mobilized to assist victims and manage ongoing emergencies.
School Strike in Minab
One of the most tragic incidents occurred in the southern city of Minab, where a girls’ school was reportedly hit during the airstrikes. Local reports indicate that 85 people were killed in that attack alone, with several others injured and hospitalized.
Rising Regional Tensions
The unprecedented scale of the operation has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict in the Middle East. Global leaders are closely monitoring developments as diplomatic channels appear increasingly strained.
More updates are expected as official confirmations and independent verifications emerge.
