What is the Case?
According to a press release issued by Darbhanga Police, on the night of February 26, 2026, at around 10:05 PM, Manikant Paswan, a resident of village Jhunsi, was brought to Biraul Police Station for verification and further necessary action. He was kept under the supervision of chowkidars within the police station premises.
At approximately 2:45 AM on February 27, 2026, the youth complained of sudden health issues. Acting promptly, the officer on duty sent him to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Biraul for medical treatment.
Escaped During Treatment
As per the official statement, around 4:45 AM, the युवक escaped from the hospital while undergoing treatment. Preliminary findings indicate negligence on the part of the personnel assigned to guard him.
Action Recommended Against Three Chowkidars
Taking the matter seriously, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Biraul has recommended disciplinary action against three chowkidars — Arun Mandal, Rajababu Paswan, and Ramnarayan Paswan — who were on duty at the time of the incident. A detailed report has been forwarded to the District Magistrate, Darbhanga, for further action.
