DRDO CBRN Conclave 2026 Inaugurated by CDS Gen Anil Chauhan in New Delhi | Strengthening India’s Defence Preparedness

New Delhi, India: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has launched its two-day CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) Conclave 2026 at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi on 26-27 February 2026. The event’s theme, “From Policy to Practice: Building CBRN Resilient India”, focuses on strengthening India’s capabilities to address CBRN threats effectively.

The conclave was inaugurated by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan. Other dignitaries present included:
Dr Samir V. Kamat, Secretary (Defence Research & Development) & Chairman, DRDO
Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS)
Dr U.K. Singh, Director General (SSS), DRDO
Objectives of the CBRN Conclave
This national-level conference brings together experts from the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and policymakers. The key objectives include:
Developing coordinated strategies to counter CBRN threats
Ensuring effective implementation from policy to ground-level action
Promoting modern defence technologies and innovations
Strengthening disaster management and medical preparedness
Enhancing India’s overall national security framework
Strengthening India’s Strategic Defence
In view of increasing global CBRN threats, India is continuously enhancing its defence and disaster response capabilities. Experts believe that this conclave is a significant step towards making India a CBRN-resilient nation, ensuring preparedness for emerging threats and reinforcing the country’s strategic security infrastructure.
