The makers of KD: The Devil, directed by Prem and starring Dhruva Sarja, announced the casting of superstar Kichcha Sudeep in the movie. The Kannada film, to be released in multiple languages, was recently in a controversy over a song.
“Some names create fear. This name chaos,” wrote KVN Productions on social media. The banner, behind pan-India projects such as Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups and Jana Nayagan, is bankrolling KD: The Devil.

Sudeep is set to play Kaala Bhairava. The makers announced the development with a character poster. William David is the cinematographer for the movie. Mohan B Kere is the art director.
KD: The Devil fell into a massive controversy over the song ‘Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse’. The song was slammed on social media as “vulgar”. People from film fraternity and movie buffs criticised the song, describing that the lyrics was disrespectful to women.

The Hindi version of the song, ‘Sarke Chunari Teri Sarke’ was criticised more than the Kannada original. Following severe backlash, the song was taken down by the makers. Responding to the row, Norah Fatehi said in a video that “she doesn’t endorse video.” Director Prem said that he is set to re-release the song with fresh lyrics.
KD: The Devil will hit the screens on April 30. The movie is touted to be a period gangster drama. Ramesh Aravind, Reshma Nanaiah, Shilpa Shetty and V Ravichandran are the other prominent actors in the movie.
