‘Karuppu’ release date locked: Suriya, Trisha Krishnan film set for summer 2026 debut

The makers of Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, have officially confirmed that the film will release in theaters worldwide on May 14, 2026, positioning it as a major summer box office contender. Directed by R. J. Balaji, the film is produced by S.R. Prakash Babu and S.R. Prabhu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures. The announcement puts an end to months of speculation regarding the project’s release timeline.

Karuppu had undergone multiple schedule revisions before arriving at its final date. The film was initially expected to release during the festive window and was later considered for early 2026. However, the makers opted to delay the release to allow additional time for post-production work, ensuring a polished final version.

The May 14 slot positions the film at the start of the summer season, a period typically associated with high box office turnout, giving Karuppu a strong window to attract both mass audiences and fans of the lead actors.

The film marks a notable collaboration between Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, a pairing that has generated considerable anticipation. The supporting cast includes Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu, with director R.J. Balaji also expected to appear in a cameo role.

On the technical front, the film features cinematography by G.K. Vishnu, editing by R. Kalaivanan and music composed by Sai Abhyankar. The action sequences are choreographed by Anbariv and Vikram Mor.

Following Karuppu, Suriya is also set to appear in Viswanath and Sons, scheduled for release in July 2026.
