‘Peddi’ trailer: Ram Charan as a crossover athlete in Buchi Babu Sana’s film

The trailer of director Buchi Babu Sana’s Peddi, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead, was unveiled in Mumbai on Monday afternoon. The rural action-sports drama is Buchi Babu Sana’s second film after Uppena, the 2020 superhit romance drama.

With the visuals, songs and teaser already having raised expectations, the trailer offers an insight into the title character’s grit. Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, in collaboration with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, the Telugu film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 4, alongside dubbed versions in multiple languages.

Peddi trailer shows a sweeping rural drama where the lead character’s undying love for sports is dominated by struggles. Ram Charan plays a multi-talented athlete who earns his livelihood through sheer physical strength, straddling cricket, wrestling and sprinting. Though he is respected and adored by the villagers, his rise draws the envy of a landlord.

According to the makers, Peddi deviates from regular sports dramas through its rural setting and life-or-death stakes with clashes on railway platforms and gravity-defying stunts.

The film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu and Boman Irani. The film has music by AR Rahman, production design by Avinash Kolla and cinematography by R Rathnavelu.
