‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ trailer: Diljit Dosanjh headlines Imtiaz Ali’s epic musical love story set around partition

The trailer of Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming romantic-drama Main Vaapas Aaunga was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday (May 19, 2026). The film stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina and Sharvari Wagh in pivotal roles.

The trailer opens with a conversation between Naseeruddin and Diljit where the former asks Diljit if he knows about Adolf Hitler. Then Diljit reveals that his grandfather is on his death bed. The trailer then shifts back during the partition-era where Vedang plays the younger version of Naseeruddin. A love story seems to brew between Vedang and Sharvari which takes a tragic turn as the nation gets partitioned into two countries. The film promises to be an epic musical romance exploring the trauma of partition.

Main Vaapas Aaunga features music by AR Rahman with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The film is written by Imtiaz with Nayanika Mahtani. It is produced Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment, Window Seat Films, Mohit Choudhary, Shibhasish Sarkar and will be released in theatres on June 12.
