Rituparna Sengupta interview: On Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s death and the no-work protest

There is a palpable heaviness in National Award-winning actor Rituparna Sengupta’s voice as she speaks about the tragic death of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee in Odisha’s Talsari. Her voice when she recalls the films they worked on and the camaraderie they shared.

In the aftermath of Rahul’s death, the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum (WBMPA) and the East India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA), bringing together actors and producers from the Bengali film industry, have closed ranks in protest. In a show of solidarity, WBMPA and EIMPA have resolved not to work with Magic Moments Motion Pictures, the production house that was financing Rahul’s television series ‘Bhole Baba Paar Karega’, which he was shooting in Talsari.
